At the ripe age of 23, I had still never dyed my hair properly - I'd dyed the ends a couple of times and used semi-permanent/wash-out dyes but was yet to use permanent hair dye. Despite this, I had wanted to get balayage for several years but had seen so few examples of it on curly hair that I was doubtful as to whether it would suit me. Additionally, I wanted it done properly and so was willing to fork out a little more money in order to get the best result (and the least damage) instead of doing it myself at home.
After a lot of googling, I decided to give Hare and Bone in Fitzrovia a go as I liked their results on Instagram and the reviews were very good. I didn't know which colourist to opt for, however Amy had a lot of experience and as I wasn't 100% sure on what colour I wanted, other than lighter and fairly subtle, I thought she'd be able to help.
As soon as I arrived and saw that Amy had curly hair too, I was very excited as it meant that she'd know how to achieve the best results for my hair. Dying your hair can often lead to drier hair, and given that curly hair is already more prone to breakage, I wanted to reduce the damage as much as possible. Alongside giving me a lot of hair advice and being very outgoing, Amy was also extremely helpful in helping me decide what exactly I wanted and achieving that result.

As demonstrated in the pictures, my hair is quite dark naturally, but it does manage to get significantly lighter in summer. I wanted something that was low-maintenance and subtle but would add dimension to my curls, and Amy achieved exactly that.
The service at Hare & Bone was also superb; I was offered Wi-Fi and drinks immediately and each time my hair was washed, I was placed in a massage chair. Overall, it cost about £300 and the process took 4 hours, which I hadn't been expecting as the initial online appointment stated 1 hour (so I was expecting 2 or 3) but it was definitely worthwhile and I couldn't be happier with the results. Amy was extremely attentive and adjusted to the client's needs, even noting down the exact procedure with each client, and I would very much recommend her to anyone wanting to dye their curly hair!
